It's funny to me that some people hate the idea of getting older. I too, once thought becoming an adult was a terrible idea. I still do! But growing UP and being an adult are very separate things. In growing, we get to begin making our own traditions, the way our elders have always done for us in the past.

This weekend 22 of our friends gathered on Saturday night at Julia's beautiful apartment for our first Philly Friendsgiving. We had each spent the afternoon cooking and came together at night for a family feast! Jeff and Julia each made their first turkey. I took a stab at my dad's stuffing (a recipe he had inherited from his mother). Tia baked and baked until the kitchen was overflowing with flour and sweets. Chris and Jenna toasted almonds (and understood why Jenna's mom had emphasized over and over that it all happens really fast!). And Mr. Mintz made a killer Polenta chock full of buttery goodness.

Before eating, we went around the table sharing our gratitude. The responses ranged from thankfulness for friends to cats to family to food to neon colors to taco bell and dancing with the stars. Rock on greatFULLness!!

Last night I took myself on a date to see this show. The title quote is from another fan (Carla Deasy). I borrowed it because she says what I want to say so simply. Plus, she uses the word "magical." It was a truly magnificent experience. Between the music and the visuals, I felt so full, I burst on a few occasions.

p.s. Thank you Mom. (Explanation = I got a message from her about the show 30 minutes before it was starting. I packed my bag and ran out of class to catch a cab. I had butterflies in my belly the whole way to the venue. They were singing in unison, "Please don't be sold out. Please don't be sold out," over and over again. I was still tingle-y after buying my ticket and getting settled in my seat. The build up of the quiet music and the empty stage with trees softly in the background was awesome! The place was packed and ready to go!)

This is one of those pieces I look at and think, "Damn! I wish I had made that!" It's an odd, egotistical response to feel, but I remember a professor in college telling us that you know something is good if you wish you had made it first!
